Paper and non-manufactured products

In recent years, paper and non-woven products have received increasing attention for their sustainability. In order to replace some of the existing fossil alternatives, the industry has been looking for improved product properties to meet the required specifications. Cellulose nanocrystals have been investigated as potential additives in the paper and nonwovens industry to help meet these challenges.

Coating: TONACELL® can be used as a natural coating agent for paper and nonwovens to improve their barrier properties. They form a dense, homogeneous coating on the surface of paper or nonwovens, reducing permeability and improving barrier properties to liquids, gases and other substances.

Moisture-absorbent materials: TONACELL® can be used to improve the performance of moisture-absorbent materials in nonwoven products. They can improve the absorbency of nonwovens by increasing the surface area of the fibres and forming a more porous structure.

Filtration: TONACELL® can be used as a natural filtering agent for paper and nonwoven products. They form a dense, uniform barrier layer that effectively filters out impurities and other contaminants.
